Welcome

Just a few rambling thoughts and crafts from a mind that is full of both. I am talented in my mind but regularly run full throttle into the wall of procrastination. I have raised procrastination to an art form. A friend once told me I have a BS in BS and a minor in excuse making. If there is anyway to get out of doing my best, I will do my best to get out of it. Welcome to my saburban life. : ).. Lol.

sNOOOOOw..

If ya know me, ya know that I am soooo not a fan of snow.
However, I have three little Scottish Hooligans
who absolutely love it.
Sooo, we had to let them out for a little fun this morning.
Poor little Fergus was sick the other day, so he got
to take a trip to our vet, Dr. Swoope.
I figured he had an Upper Respiratory Infection
because he was coughing and hacking, and got sick a couple
times, couldn't get comfortable, wasn't eating and just wasn't
feeling very well.  Turns out, he has acute tonsilitis.  : (..
He's been on amoxicilin since then and is feeling a lot better!

Here he is with his snowy little face,
and the red hoodie that Grandpa sent Emmy
or Milo when they were younger.
And this is Emmy in the Peace Sign hoodie,
and Milo in his sporty, gray hoodie,
chasing down a snow covered sugar gum ball.

Hit the backspace yesterday and lost my video..
Closed the post out and forgot to go back
and reload this.  Whoopsies!

Sunday Funday Too..

Had fun with some friends yesterday.
: )..  So much fun, that we had to write an
excuse for one of us who was late to work.

"Cyndi was participating in extra curricular employee
health activity - we were increasing her endorphines
and decreasing her blood pressure through
expressive therapy and chocolate.
Please forgive,
Love the mob
(see photos enclosed on fb)"
Signed by the wine mob members..
Lol..  Good times, good times, good times..  : )..
Buon Cibo * Buon Vino * Buon Amici
We have never had a bad wine mob meeting..  Ha!
It's impossible!

Started today's fun by enjoying a delicious
brunch at Ophelia's Restaurant and Inn
down on the Independence square.

Then I brought out my mom's vintage measuring
spoons and whipped up some super
yummy, delicious semi-retro
homemade chex mix.
I loooove that stuff!
Brings back holiday memories of
my parents, Christmas presents
and decorations, as well as my favorite
Aunt Lou's laugh as she and my mom sat around
the kitchen table.
Good times indeed.
Missed times indeed.

Melted 6 tablespoons of butter in my mom's
vintage roasting pan.  Lol.

I added 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce,
1 teaspoon of onion powder,
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
and 1 1/4 teaspoons of seasoned salt and added
them to the melted butter.

Mixed my snacks together,
added 4 1/2 cups of Corn Chex Cereal,
4 1/2 cups of Rice Chex Cereal,
1 cup pretzels, 1 cup peanuts and
although they weren't exactly "retro"
I added a few Goldfish snacks too.

Poured them into the seasonings.
and baked the mix for 1 hour at 250 degrees,
stirring every 15 minutes.
Finally, I spread it out on paper towels to let it cool.

And finally, speaking of retro..
Here is a definite retro picture..
It's one of my favorites, I
found it when we were cleaning out
my Aunt Lou's house a few years ago.
It's a picture of my Aunt Lou, Uncle Richard,
my Grandmother "Mer", my Mom
and my older brother Jeff.. and..
finally.. not an actual picture of me..
wait!  Lol..  This is an actual picture of me!

Now?  It's time for the Chiefs and Bronco's
football game.  I feel like William Shatner
when I'm watching them this season..
"Don't throw the ball to.. (interception) them!"
"Don't lose the.. (fumble) ball!"
"Don't run through.. (pile of bodies) the middle!"
It hasn't been a very good season..
At least it's almost over..
Finally.
Whew.

Chris Pureka - These Pages

Spent part of yesterday listening to my Po'Girl Pandora Radio Station,
ooooh how I've missed it so.  Thought that it was mixed in on the shuffle,
but I don't think it was because it's been quite a while since I've heard this
great song. : ).. I love the radio version, but I really think that I love this
live version even more.  Great song, great sound.

Va-Va-Va Varoom!

Dodge came out with the slogan,
"Don't you buy an ugly truck!" back in the 90's
when they unveiled the bubblish hood.
I hated them at first.  Lol.
Then I had a black one drive by
and that was all it took.
I was hooked!
This is a
Mercedes Benz conception model.
Cute!  I'd buy one.
Well, if I could afford it..
: )..

I have never been a huge fan of vintage cars.  Eh.
I can do with them, or without them,
until Nicolas Cage introduced me
to the only female movie star that I
will ever truly, deeply, madly love..
Yup!  It's....
Eleanor!

Such a suhweet little lady!
Ooooooh yeah!
I got to meet her!  Up close and personal!
She came to one of our car shows a few years ago,
and I not only got up close and personal,
I got my picture taken with this
delicious, awesome, beautiful car..

They had seven Eleanor's for the filming of "Gone In 60 Seconds".
One was totaled while filming the beginning of the big jump scene,
one was totaled while filming the landing, and
one was totaled when they smashed the car in the junkyard.
The last three ladies went on tour.

Looks like at least one
made an appearance at the Barrett Jackson Auction
at some point in time.
I bet it brought in a pretty good penny!
Whew!  I luv me some Eleanor!
Suuuuuhweet!
Muah! Muah! Muah!
: )

Whew!

Short work week after my four day weekend and
Christmas, but lemme tell ya!
We've been making up for lost time!
Yikes.  Normally I do about 35-40 evaluated
calls in a day, today I did 82 after
working an extra 4 hours.
However, the people at Halls must have
known that I could use a little encouragement.
: )..
This is what they had to say..

Right on time, Halls!
Right on time!

We have one more day to go, and still have so many more
calls and operators to evaluate, but by gosh!
I'm going in for another 12 hour shift and
we will make it!  I know we can!
When push comes to shove, and our noses
are on the grindstone, we make it, and
we make it look easy!
Woot!
Go Team KC QA!
No!  Really!  Go!
Do those evals!

I Said Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

It's ccccold out there!  Santa better have his thermal long johns on tonight!  He might be leaving a little more than toys out there if he doesn't.  He stopped by here already and left some super grateful little pups some toys.  We won't mention the poor Santa toy was in tatters a few short minutes after the puppy scramble.  Lol.  We will just keep that our little secret.  : )..  And as he drive out of sight, he said Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Infomercial Item Palooza.. : ).

Uh oh..
I love informercial products..
Now?
I have run into one of the catalogs
which seems to be Informercial
Item Palooza multiplied many times over..
Lol..  My pocketbook may never be the same again..
Rut roh!

I need one of these!
This is my latest informercial favorite..
The one I want is called the Forever Comfy
foam pillow, which sells for $20,
but seems to be $30 through Harriet Carter..
However, there are soooo many other
great items that are reasonably priced
on the website..
Rut roh..
Lol..
That could be a bad site for me to look at!
: )..

Nooo.. Snoooow..

After thunderstorms last night,
which included high winds and some hail to boot,
we woke up this morning to snow.
I say Blech!!
I am sooooo not a fan of snow.
Nooo, just say nooo to snow..  : (..
Although, the puppies loved it!
Fergus wasn't so sure at first,
but decided that it was a whole lotta fun.
This is his first real snow picture..
Even though it's blurry and you really
can't see the snow..  Lol..
Here is Emmy's first real snow picture..
Cutie patootie!
And then Milo's first real snow picture..
Who could resist those snowy little faces?
Milo looked like he was outside rollin
snowballs on the back deck this morning,
but stopped before I could grab the camera to
get it on video.  Ohh well,
the snow is still out there with more to come
Christmas morning.
I'll end up getting a better snowy picture of Fergus,
and hopefully I'll be able to catch Milo
rollin snow again.  Lol.
: )..
Puppies.  The only good thing about snow.

We had pretzels, vanilla wafers
and strawberries with the Premium
Belgium Chocolate at a work potluck..
I'm not big on chocolate covered
strawberries?  But lemme tell ya!
I'm a fan of Velata and strawberries!

Horse whisperer

One of the most amazing videos ever. No saddle, no bridle, no bit.  Just
a girl and the horse that she trained. Her father passed away 44 days before
this exhibition..  Btw, it's a kleenex box worthy viewing. Simply amazing!

Spam! With Turkey, Apple, Almond Butter Paninis!

Ok.  Sounds yummy, eh?  Lol.  Non?  Oui?
Been going through some Canadian Account training at work,
so I'm trying to brush up on my French vocabulary.
Spam! Turkey! Apples! Almond Butter?
Lol.  Alright.  Not all of them together.

The spam was from my yahoo account which was hacked
by some unscrupulous people drifting around, maliciously lurking
on Craigslist.  Someone decided to send out a bazillion (which is a slight
exaggeration, but not by much) emails
to my contacts, so I apologize to all those who
received a spammy email message from "me".

Now, for the Turkey, Apples and Almond Butter.
Our cafeteria used to serve regular cafeteria meals.
Some were good, some were..  Umm.  Not so good?
Now?  Oooh!  Now!  We have Linda who comes up with
healthy, delicious, yummy, scrumptious ideas!

Today's choice?  Was a Turkey, Apple Panini.
Turkey?  With Apples?  What?
Yep.  Turkey. With thinly sliced apples.
Topped with some delicious Almond Butter.
Squished flat with what looked like a flat iron.
Lol.  I'm sure it has a name, forgive me, I am not the
culinary genius.  : )..  But by gosh!
Linda sure as heck is.  This has to be one of my absolute
favorite sandwiches they make!

Here is something fairly similar, with a little
cinnamon, honey butter mixed in.
Ooooh, I can taste it now!  : )..
Alton Brown says that you don't actually need to have a fancy
panini maker to make these delicious treats.  He took two regular
bricks, covered them with tinfoil and laid them on top of
the sandwiches while they were grilling. Diabolically easy!
You don't get the lines, but lemme tell ya!
For something that easy and that delicious?
I can skip the grill marks.
Woot!
Who is with me?!
: )..

Awww, nuts!

One of my favorite Chili's menu items is no longer available.
Dang it..  After having some delicious Tilapia with Pico de Gallo and Chimichurri Sauce
a while ago, I've always wanted to go back.  Guess I'll have to settle for making
it myself.  : )..  No problem, Chili's was serving it up for a whopping $15.00.  Lol.

Sooo, here we go.  Here's my solution.
Yummy, yummy, yummy
in my tummy, tummy, tummy!
: )..
Ok, so, looking at the ingredients,
I'm sure it will be more than $15 for
all the ingredients, but considering the fact
that Chili's no longer offers this?
I'll take that chance.

Dirty Santa Party.. Lol..

Soo, one of our previous supervisors had her annual Dirty Santa
Christmas party, including the White Elephant game.
We took some Johnsonville Sausage and Cheese, and
thankfully, ended up bringing it back home, with a bottle
of Sweet Tea Vodka to boot.
: )..

The hit of the party though?
Was this Little Santa who danced
to "Santa Baby"..
Lol..  Alrighty..
Whew.
Glad to be home and
calling it a night.

Umm, Yes, Please! : )..

Sooo, I've been craving some macaroni and cheese lately, but really need to eat foods that are healthier than that.  Sooo, when I ran up on this Pinterest pin again in my healthy foods board, I think I've found my winner, winner, chicken, pasta and mac'n cheese dinner winner.  : )..  Looks great.  Sounds great, and it's healthy?  Not to mention, cooked in a crockpot?  Count me in!

I know that I am!

What a day..

Crazy night last night, neighbor's had a late night party that woke our pups up so that they jolted me out of a deep sleep.  The people were all mingling around in the backyard of their house, which meets up with the side of our yard.  I finally conked back out, only to wake up again around 215am to more laughing and talking.  Finally, as I was drifting back off to sleep, the voices died down, and then yelling ensued.  A fight broke out inside the house, escalated and spilled out into the yard and street, and someone was banging on car windows trying to get at someone else.  Yikes.  I jumped up and called 911 and the cops stopped by and took care of what was left, most party goers had already vacated.  Lol.  Cahrazy!  Finally fell back to sleep after 4am.

Went to our friend's son's last college football game in Excelsior Springs.  Andy has done sooo well, and scored the first two touchdowns for the Lindenwood Lions.  His first touchdown?  Was an 83 yard run, the third longest in the bowl's 47 year history.  He's being scouted by several NFL teams!  Congrats Andy and Lions!  They put up a valiant effort against a HUGE team from Minnesota. And by huge, I mean, these kids were HUGE.
Here's a picture of Leo the Lion revving the LU crowd up, while wearing a yellow tutu.
Lol.  Leo can get down too.  I have a video but it won't load because it was on the
iphone and those videos are too big for blogger.
Here's a picture of Andrew Helmick, he's one to keep an eye
on!  The NFL scouts sure are!  He's the one on the left hand
side, along with three of his friends and his friend Malach's
Mom.  Malach is the one holding the number 27 jersey.
# 27 belongs to their fallen teammate Sterling Thomas,
who suffered a terrible injury a few games ago, and has suffered
paralysis.  He's getting burning sensations in his hands though,
so that's a great sign! He might still regain use of his arms,
and possibly someday, be able to regain the use of everything else.

However, talking about huge, the Kansas City Chief's football organization suffered a huge loss today.  Jovan Belcher, one of our defensemen, shot and killed his girlfriend, then drove to the Chief's practice facility.  He thanked Coach Romeo Crennell and Mark Paoli (I think he's the GM), and then shot and killed himself.  Such a tragedy!  Our collective thoughts and prayers are with all those who knew those involved.  Much peace and comfort to them all.

Finally, on a positive note, after losing one poor little pup at the Irving Animal Shelter, they had 18 pups who were either rescued, fostered or adopted and saved from being euthanized this afternoon.  In addition to those who were saved, several more were adopted that hadn't made the code red list.  Yay!  Thanks and kudos to everyone who helped save these babies.

Ended my afternoon with the wine mob at VanTill Family Winery
in Raymore, MO, enjoying some fine wine, some delicious wood fired pizza
and some super yummy carrot cake.  I love their labels too!
Buon vino! Buon cibo! Buon amici!
