Same Old Love..

Finally - tonight is my last night at my current job.

I'm switching shifts with a co-worker so they can take their

kiddos trick or treating and to a chili cook off with family.

 

Got Game 4 going on with our Kansas City Royals

and the NY Mets.  After that first pitch last night?

I'm not a fan of Cinderfella.

Want to move KC off the plate?

Show us who you think is boss?

Fine.

Throw the ball at our head and it's on like donkey kong.

Cinnabon better watch out.

There might be a Moose Stampede heading his way.

 

Got another group home job that starts early in the morning.

This one is only 3 miles from my house.  : )..

Beware of things that shine.. Once A Day..

After a frustrating stint at my last job,

I finally found another one that had better pay,

better benefits and better hours.

 

However, it's been like playing a wicked game of Twister.

I know my body parts and I know my colors,

however, it took a while to finally be able to put it all on the playing board.

 

Now?  Now they have added people with sharp, pointy sticks

to the mix, another long, hard, cranky, crabby week on the phones,

followed by what should be, another long, intensive

week of training.

 

Thinking about walking away and going back to my former

job that now has the evening shift positions open that I wanted..

 

Until then?  Let's enjoy something fun..

Now if there was just a way to cure it!

I'm seriously debating whether I look good in it.

The daily grind at work has worn me out.

Its about to get even worse for the upcoming weeks,

With no days off because of staffing needs.

I will be glad when its over.

My poor, neglected little blog,I promise to return

One day.  I am finally off the horrible 4am shift

but still deal with noise issues, including fart sounds.

Do I work at a day care center?  

Nope.  Is this my mental health group home?

Nope.  I work with "normal" people who are

 over 21 years old.  Physically over 21.

Mentally?  I have my doubts.

Seriously?  Fart sounds?  Yup.

Including the person coming up behind me

while I was on the phone with a customer.

Awesome sauce.

Let the job search commence.

Long, Tough Week..

It's been a long, tough week.

I celebrated a birthday, won't say which one though,

but lost my father on the same day.

It wasn't unexpected,

and we are all relieved that he is no longer in any pain

and with our mom again,

but it was a long, tough few days.

He always teased my nephews about Missouri Mules,

and would thoroughly enjoy clipping articles about them,

or sending them Mule birthday cards.

Our nephews all grew up and attended seminaries,

each graduating as a minister.

Our middle nephew, Michael,

led our dad's service.

He talked about how dad grew up with the love of mules.

How he loved to tease them.

How the mule is misunderstood.

It is seen as being stubborn.

However, it's just that they are smart and wise.

They are great teachers when paired with other animals.

At the end of his service, he tied it in with how

our dad lived his life in the same way.

All in all, it was probably one of the best services

that there has been.

And it was special that our nephew was able to lead it.

Anyway, back to the regular grind.

wrote this book that was illustrated by her mom, Brittany,

and is available on Amazon.

My dad was one of the strongest men around,

and here is taking a moment to enjoy the book.
