It seems that some hoodlum was up to some no-good shenanigans, some time between yesterday afternoon and 4am this morning. Someone seems to have absconded with Dutch's semi truck and the trailer of irrigation tires that he had hooked up for his run to Lexington, NE. We are guessing that they thought they were tractor tires instead. Luckily the truck, and I'm sure the load, were insured, but that really was a great truck. He just spent $8,000 overhauling the engine last year. Hopefully they will abandon it somewhere and not strip and scrap it. : (.. I'm sure he won't be able to find such a great truck again. Especially one with practically a brand new engine.
We bought it used in 2005 and he's been able to make a really good living with it up until today. We paid for it in full, so it's never had a loan on it, so it's been nothing but profit ever since then. We live in the KC, MO area and I posted pics on facebook, and have had friends who are sharing the pics as well. Dutch filed a police report this morning, so hopefully it will turn up without any damage. He said there were tire tracks where the person or persons who stole it, drug the trailer because they didn't wait for the air brakes to air up before taking off.
He parks it down a side road off of one of the biggest trucking routes in town, so there aren't a whole lot of people that live down that way, and those that do, are used to hearing his truck leave at all times of the day and night. : (.. Soo, to the hoodlum hooligans who absconded with the truck and trailer, shame on you. Get a real job instead of taking someone else's. Didn't your mother teach you any better than that? Tsk, tsk, tsk! You should be ashamed. Now drop it off and leave it somewhere intact. Pronto. Ya hooligan!
That's a bummer! Why do people assume when you own something that you don't work hard for it! Life isn't easy and whatever it is that we have, it's because we worked for it! I hope they leave your truck parked on the side of the road with no serious damage. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry. I hope they abandon it somewhere, but the longer it's gone today, the more I worry that they might have taken it and stripped or scrapped parts. : (.. I think I was hoping we would have heard something or found it by now, but there has been no news. I am beginning to miss it. Lol. Sounds crazy, but it's almost like part of our little family.
DeleteDutch found the trailer he was hauling abandoned. Whoever stole the truck targeted our truck specifically. Too bad for them we know the area they operate in. Ha! Chop our truck will they? It'll be the last car vehicle part they see outside of workin in a prison shop! There is a Western Star with no motor that is parked in that area, and we just so happened to have one of those motors sitting in our truck. Not to mention all of our Western Star parts. : (. Truckma is coming to get them. That's Karma on a whole bigger, grander scale! They might wanna kiss all their stuff goodbye, it might be a long time before they see it.
DeleteThat's just terrible! Maybe some kids decided to joy ride? Though, it's not like driving a car now is it. You have to have a bit of skill to drive a truck like that (my dad drove a local route for 30+ years) ...

Thanks Linda. We think it was taken by someone who has a shady reputation for stealing trucks for their parts. We still haven't found it yet, but my husband is still out there looking for it. He's making some posters to hang up around that guys shop. That should really rattle the dude if in fact he took our truck. : (.. We are still hoping to get it back but don't know that we will. We are doing as much as we can while stating as safe as we can.
