Welcome

Just a few rambling thoughts and crafts from a mind that is full of both. I am talented in my mind but regularly run full throttle into the wall of procrastination. I have raised procrastination to an art form. A friend once told me I have a BS in BS and a minor in excuse making. If there is anyway to get out of doing my best, I will do my best to get out of it. Welcome to my saburban life. : ).. Lol.

sNOOOOOw..

If ya know me, ya know that I am soooo not a fan of snow.
However, I have three little Scottish Hooligans
who absolutely love it.
Sooo, we had to let them out for a little fun this morning.
Poor little Fergus was sick the other day, so he got
to take a trip to our vet, Dr. Swoope.
I figured he had an Upper Respiratory Infection
because he was coughing and hacking, and got sick a couple
times, couldn't get comfortable, wasn't eating and just wasn't
feeling very well.  Turns out, he has acute tonsilitis.  : (..
He's been on amoxicilin since then and is feeling a lot better!

Here he is with his snowy little face,
and the red hoodie that Grandpa sent Emmy
or Milo when they were younger.
And this is Emmy in the Peace Sign hoodie,
and Milo in his sporty, gray hoodie,
chasing down a snow covered sugar gum ball.

Hit the backspace yesterday and lost my video..
Closed the post out and forgot to go back
and reload this.  Whoopsies!

Fun with my puppies..

 Fergus cheesin..
 Milo chewin..
Emmy hiding her head like she tries to do
with every picture that I try to take..  Lol..

So, after being without a camera charger for a few months,
we finally bought the bullet and ordered one online.
Hard telling where the original one went.
I personally think that they self destruct after a while
so that you have to replace them.  : )..

Took the pups out back and played for a while,
we seriously need new tennis balls again.
We are down to two in the back yard,
well, except for three or four pieces out there
that just found their way back to the trash can.
It was a nice, short sleeved day, and the puppies
certainly enjoyed it!
Probably won't get that too much more..
Definitely glad to have a new charger,
this one has a car plug in as well.  Spiffy!

Roosters and dogs and trains, oh my!

While the puppies and I were outside enjoying the early morning, we
discovered that one of our neighbors thought that they needed a rooster
in their backyard.  Apparently, their two dogs that are outside all the time,
and the rabbits that they have, weren't enough of a menagerie.  Including
the little black and white flop eared bunny that got loose and was roaming
the neighborhood for about three weeks because no one could catch it.  Lol.

Now, we have chickens, roosters, bunnies, and about 10-15 dogs that live
in the immediate area.  We've got one person who feeds a bunch of cats
as well, so, it's getting pretty crazy.  On top of all that fun, we live between
two train tracks.  This morning, in addition to the rooster, we had an added
bonus of a lady who thought that 7:37am was a great time to walk her dog
in a neighborhood full of loud, barking dogs.  Awesome.  : )..  Oooh the joys
of living in the city.

Young Puppies Walkin..

Let the puppies enjoy the cooler weather today.  They got to celebrate it with a walk around the Independence downtown square.  There were lots of places to sniff and I think Fergus was tinkled out about halfway through the jaunt.  Lol.  He still tried to go on the way back, but I think he was runnin low.  : )..  We wore them out, gave them a cool drink of water and ended their trip with a stop at Petsmart where there were even more things to sniff, more stuff to tinkle on and lots and lots and lots of dogs to bark at.

We found out, Milo is checking in at 18 pounds, Emmy is close behind at 17 and Fergus is quickly gaining, weighing in at 12.9 pounds.  Pretty good for an eight month old puppy.

Here are some pics from the walk..
It was way too bright to really tell how well they were
coming out..

 Tinkle, tinkle little star..
I wasn't quite going for that shot,
but again, it was hard to see with
the sun and my iphone screen.  Lol.
 The Ferginator ferginating..
 Milo maxin and relaxin..
 Emmy eminatin..
And finally, Emmy channeling
her inner Olympic gymnast,
workin it on the balance beam..
She says she's ready for the catwalk now..
Lol.

Emmy's Neighbor Visit.. : )..

Keeping track of three pups can be challenging at times, especially when you don't see all three go outside and only two come back in.  Let Fergus and Milo out this afternoon, but didn't see Emmy go too.  Let Fergus and Milo back in, and we left to eat dinner and get some dog food.  Came back to one of our neighbors walking over to our fence.  Luckily, they were outside and saw us leave.  Emmy ran over to the corner of our fence and started barking at them, so they figured out she got left out by herself.

She doesn't always go outside with the boys, she's usually standing at the door after they have gone outside.  Not sure when she snuck past me.  We have a routine of coming back inside and stopping for cookies.  Emmy doesn't always wait, but likes to run back to our bedroom and crawl under the bed.  She knows that I'll bring her cookies back to her.  I should have noticed that Fergus got to eat her's without her growling.

Our neighbors, who also mow our grass for us because we always invite them to our parties without asking for anything in return, and who Dutch is getting ready to build a motor for, came over and picked Emmy up.  They took her over to their house to wait.  She got to spend time with her friends, Katie and Harley D, and got to meet their cat, Whiskey.  Lol.  She also got to go for a ride and have McDonalds Chicken Nuggets and a couple fries.  : )..  All in all, I think she had a pretty good visit, even if it was for all the wrong reasons.  D'oh!  I'm usually more observant than that, and won't let that happen again.  Whew!

Her brothers sure were happy to see her, and she sure was happy to see all of us again as well.  Lol.  She's back inside with her family, happily playing with their new tough chew toy and snackin on their new dog food.  I think she enjoyed the break from Milo and Fergus though!  Boys are noisy!  And they tear up her toys.  Time to snuggle!

Smells like.. Teen Spirit? Nah.. Wet puppies!

Lol.  It was soo hot here today, the pups didn't spend much time outside.  Until...  This evening.  Not that the temperature dropped much, but it felt like it did after the sun receded a little.  Milo got to enjoy his favorite summer activity in the whole wide world!  He got a little splish splash time in his splish splash pool!  Yay!  Crazy little puppies.  They love the water.  Emmy and Fergus love chasing the water hose, while Milo prefers to stomp, splash and snap at the water from inside his pool.  Here are some pics of the wet little doggies.  Oooh what fun they had!

 Emmy splashin..
 Milo takin a splish splash..
 The Ferginator attackin..
Rubba Dub Dub, almost three pups inna tub..
 The Wetinator..
A wet Em'n'em..
Milo was too busy splashing to get his picture taken.  : )..
He loves his splish splash pool.  Lol.
Wet, happy little puppies.
Finally got that smelly good stuff off them for sure!

Fun With Puppies..

Milo says he loves the smell of neighborhood cats in the morning.. : )..
Lucky for him, our neighbor has a gazillion of them.
I counted seven of them sitting in a group in that yard behind us
one afternoon.  I think they were trying to make Milo lose his mind.
It worked.  He about had a conniption!
Auntie Em looking pretty and smelling sweet after
visiting, "Aunt Chelsea" and being groomed.
(we still hadn't picked up our extra seating from the party, lol)
(i'm still trying to recover from the bbq, whew!)
(it might take another week or so, lol)
Now, if she could ONLY find something stinky to roll in,
she'd be a happy little girly girl.

And, finally..
The Ferginator, Sir Fergus Ozborn McDougal
lookin like he needs to go visit "Aunt Chelsea" soon.
: )..  We've noticed, he's definitely getting his
adult teeth in.  Look at those chompers!
Thankfully, he chews on toys.
Emmy didn't.  We were her chew toys.  Lol.
He's too sweet to do that.  Ha!  He loves chewing
on all kinds of things that he shouldn't though.
Baseboards, metal desk legs, furniture, bowls.
You name something he shouldn't chew and he'll
try and chew on it.  However, we've also figured out,
he doesn't like the taste of limes, so everything
gets a little lime spritzer from time to time.
Works like a charm.  : )..  Or I guess a lime.

There's no place like.. ADT?

Lol.  Soo, ADT, in an attempt to bolster morale, had an awards ceremony for some of the representatives on the first and third shift.  It was all of the teams that are under the Unit Manager for the night shift.  Their theme?  The Wizard of Oz's spinoff.  I tried, in vain, to convince them that I had Toto well covered.  : )..

They could have had one of these..
Auntie Em!  Auntie Em!  No..  Really..  It is Auntie Em..
 Milo the man..

Or..
The Ferginator..

Eh..  It's ADT's loss.  : )..
I'll keep them alllll for myself!
(besides, they would have been barkin up a storm!)
Lol..

Whatta great idea! Lol.

Soo, in addition to Milo's splish splash pool, I might have to try this awesome little idea!  : )..  Ha!  It's a treat and toy filled Ice-Lick, designed to intrigue pets and help keep them cool at the same time.  Oooh the possibilities!  Pinterest wins again!

One of my friends had shared the pin,

Puppy Pictures.. : )..

Since my last post wouldn't let me add my pictures, I will make a new one.  : )..  Here are the kids playin in their splish splash pool.  I'm jealous.  I wanted a pool too.  Lol.  My puppies got one.  I can join them in theirs, or just plain do without.  Hmm.  Don't be surprised if I take them up on it this summer.  Ha!
Milo, minus the mud puddle mess.  Lol.
The Ferginator in his first splish splashy pool party.
He jumped out twice before realizing how much fun it was.

What fun!  Lol.
Sigh.  I really might have to join them.
: )..

Semi productive Sunday..

Went grocery shopping, yay, got the stuff to make some more white chicken chili though. Yummy! Played with the pups. Brought Milo's splish, splash pool back out and all three pups were in it at one time. Poor little Fergus jumped out twice before he realized just how much fun could be had in it. The third time was the charm and he hadd a blast. He dropped a sliver of paper in it and was barking at it when he was the only one in there. Lol. Bark! Bark! Then he kicked with his back leg and splashed me. I couldn't stop laughing. Wished I had gotten all that on video. Lol. Watched part of the NASCAR race through the back of my eyelids, Fergus did too. Went to dinner and spent the rest of the night running up and down our basement stairs because Fergus only rents the water he drinks and every time he went outside, he had to reload on the way back in. Whew! Enough Fergus! We are calling it a night!

Fun with Dr. Swoope..

Fergus had his first visit with our vet, Dr. Swoope today.  Lol.  Got called, "Fat and Happy".  He's 5.1 pounds already.  Growing like a little weed.  He can run up and down our basement and deck stairs without problems, although he did roll down the basement ones a couple days ago.  I think Emmy and Milo did that too, back when they were pups.  The stairs are carpeted, and we tried to keep them from doing that, but he was no worse for wear, got up, shook himself off and raced back up the stairs again.  He and Milo love to chase each other around.  They get along very well, rolling and running, as long as they aren't around food or water, everything is peachy.  : )..

Here's the latest Fergie Ferg picture, taken during his first vet visit.
 Fat and happy puppy.
Quite the eyebrows goin.
Ernest Borgnine, Jr.  : )..
Milo gets them too.
Not quite so bad in this pic.
Whatta cutie.  : )..
And a little sweetie to boot.

TGIF.. : ).. For sure..

Milo loves playing with Fergus.  Fergus hates being put in the kennel at night so that I can sleep without having to worry what he's up to.  And now?  Milo "bumped" his nose at me when I put Fergus in the kennel last night, letting me know that he wasn't finished playing with the little guy yet.  Lol.  He kept poor little Fergie Ferg company since it didn't sway me and make me open the door to let him out, so Milo laid down on the floor next to the kennel and watched him for a while.  Eventually, they both crashed out.

This weekend is going to be crazy.  One of my friends, and her Shiba Inu, will be here because we are having our winner, winner another non-chicken dinner winery winner dinner at Fence Stiles Winery in Excelsior Springs.  It's the one that has the Tuscany Pasta, the New Orleans pasta, the Buffalo Chicken Soup (ok, so I guess it's not totally a non-chicken dinner, lol.) and some other assorted items.  I am soooo looking forward to that.  It was rescheduled from February, and was almost rescheduled again.  One of the owners is from India and needed to return to her family after her father had a massive heart attack.  He stabilized however, so she flew back and still wanted to do our dinner this weekend.  : )..  I love their winery, their wines and their hospitality.  They have always been warm and welcoming and I am glad that her father is doing better!  Here was a link to the menu we were able to choose from.

At least we will be home most of this weekend so poor little Fergus won't have to spend much time in his kennel.  : )..  He and Milo can play and play and play to their hearts content.  Or until one of them falls asleep.  Fergus has unearthed the mother lode of squeaky toys.  Milo loves the squeaky parts out of stuffed animals and will tear them apart to get to it.  We have decided it is easier to just buy him the replacement squeaky parts to save him the extra trouble.  After having bought probably, oh, say, five or six packs that hold four in each, I never actually wondered what Milo did with them.  Until last night when Fergus was clawing under the love seat.  I got my handy dandy back scratcher, aka the toy hunting stick, and found 13 squeaky toys under the love seat alone.  Ahh.  It was a squeaky toy graveyard.  Milo was going nuts.  Ahh.  The joys of puppies.  I'm ready to get this weekend started!  One 8 hour shift to go!

Look who is playing with the puppy. : )..

Milo and Fergus were able to play yesterday.  : )..  Milo herds him around the house just like Emmy did with him back in the day.  He kind of pushes him around with his nose, but he's being pretty gentle with Fergus, and he's able to actually refrain from eating him.  Yay Milo!  Good boy!  He had a major breakthrough yesterday.  Just when I was starting to have my doubts.  He's doing such a great job with the puppy now.  He is still territorial over the food and water, but as long as Fergus has his own, we are good to go.  Awesome Milo!

Fun with Puppies.. : )..

Milo is slowly starting to adjust to Fergus.  He's barking, but not like he wants to tear the puppy apart.  We've made sure that Milo knows the puppy isn't here to take his place, eat his treats or steal his people.  He is able to sit calmly by the kennel while Fergus moves around inside for a few minutes without starting to get too excited.  There may be hope after all.  Anyway, here is some fun with our pups for now.  : )..
 Milo being cute..  : )..
Finally got Fergus to sit still for a minute.
: )..

Alrighty, I'm ready to get this day started!

Introducing a puppy to an aggressive dog.. Lol..

Soo, I guess really, it's not much of a secret, lol, except on Facebook right now.  We are getting a new little Cairn puppy this Saturday.  Just by luck, I finally found one Cairn listed in the KC paper this weekend and called to find more information about him.  He's around 11 weeks old, cute, AKC registerable and was selling for $400.  I asked where they were located and was told they are in Excelsior Springs, MO, just a hop, skip and a jump from us.  Hey!  I told the person, "That's where we got Auntie Em, from Judy..." To which she replied, "This IS Judy!"  Whut?!  Lol.  What are the chances?  I'm guessing fairly good since it happened.  We are getting one of Emmy's younger sister's pups.

Judy said that he is cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, and that he looks just like Emmy did when she was a baby.  Thinks he is going to be just like her when he grows up, which is fine with us!  : )..  She is knocking $50 off since we've already bought from her once.  And Emmy gets to go see her Momma Judy and Momma Chrissy again.  I think Emmy will adapt to the new pup fairly well.  Milo?  He's going to be a whole new ball of wax!

Soo, I spent a little time on here googling how to introduce a new puppy to an aggressive older dog and found some great ideas.  One is to have both of them in separate crates and let them sniff each other until both of them are calm and ok with each other.  It also says not to yell at your older, aggressive dog if they react to the new puppy.  I think the crate idea is going to work best.  I think we will take our big kennel with us in the back of the Subaru and put Milo in it and then take the smaller crate and put "Fergus" in it (I can't tell if I'm winning the Fergus battle yet.  Lol.) for the ride back home.

Milo never spent much time in the kennel when he was a baby.  He only spent a couple nights in the smaller one before I let him out to sleep on the bed with us.  I don't know how well he is going to adapt to the new pup, especially when it comes to sharing a bed with us, but hopefully he will ease into it.  We will still shower Milo with attention so that he knows that he's not losing his people to the interloper.  The websites all said to give the aggressive dog the first attention when we come back in, the first treats, the first feeding, etc.  I'm hoping this will go well.  From the looks of the internet, it can be done.  : )..  Yay!  I can't wait for Saturday!  : )..  Woot!

By the way, here are some cute Emmy puppy pictures to tide us over in the meantime..
 Aww.  One of my faves.
I still can't believe she waited that long for this picture.
First night home, she was a little over 6 weeks old.
One of my absolute favorite pictures of her ever..  : )..  Lol..
I usually don't take pictures that turn out that well.  Ha!
Second night in our home.
She was furrocious!
A little ratter hard at work!
Whatta cutie!  I can't wait until
Fergus is here!  : )..

Fun with my puppy.. : )..

Ok, so, recently, we had some kids playing with a couple big rubber balls in the yard behind us.  Milo was traumatized by the brave ball that remained steadfast and never waivered or ran while he barked bravely from our side of the fence.  Emmy saved Milo by popping one and playing gleefully with the other.  Today, while walking around Target, I found Emmy's new toy.  Lol.  Of course..  It's a big rubber ball.  Here's a little video of Milo playing with it.  Emmy was hiding out this time, probably because Milo was losing his little puppy mind.  Ha!  Sorry that parts of the house are a little dark, we don't have a lot of light (or lol, furniture) in our upstairs living room.  We went with a minimalist theme up here.  Lol. : )..

Milo sounds sooo brave..  Doesn't he?  Lol.

Puppies, Treats and Come back inside! Oh my!

It's getting harder and harder at times to get our puppies to come back inside.  It doesn't matter if it's hot, warm or cold outside.  They love to play.  They love to bark.  They love to scan the neighborhood from the safety of our fence, keeping us free of outside cats, squirrels and whatever else might be lurking out there.  You know.  Balls.  Big, soft rubber balls.  The kind that you can buy in the grocery or department store.  Those things are dangerous!  Ask Milo!  He will tell you all about them!

There were some kids visiting a house catacorner from us that has a huge empty lot / yard directly behind us.  The kids had, and I do mean had, lol, a big pink, white and blue rubber ball.  Milo just about lost his little puppy mind.  They left the ball in that yard, but it kept blowing back down to our fence.  We would move it and it would come back, taunting poor little Milo.  He barked and barked and barked and barked some more.  I finally got a couple sticks, grabbed it and brought it into our yard.  Milo just about had a herd of cows.  Lol.  Emmy jumped on it, growled and bit it.  Pop..  Pfffffffeeeewwwww.  She saved you Milo!  Thankfully, there were no kids there to witness the brutal demise of their ball.  Ha!

Our friend, Emmy and Milo's favorite person in the whole wide world, "Uncle Steve" came over last summer and built us a shed.  Emmy and Milo love chasing each other around it, taking turns as to who is chasing who.  They will run and run and run.  Sit down, roll around, jump back up and run some more.

When it comes to getting them back inside, sometimes calling
them in for a treat works.  They love Pupperoni.
 They love puppy cookies.
 They love puppy bacon.
However, there are times that offering any
of those items still won't lure them back
inside.  They will stop what they are doing
and look at me like this..
"Come for Pupperoni!"
 "Come for cookies!"
 "Come for bacon!"
Aha!  I finally found the magical sound
that brings them in every single time..
It comes from this magical machine....
Ding!
Lo and behold..  "Puppy Whisperer"..
(not our actual microwave, I'll spare
you the pictures of that for now.  Lol.)
Alrighty..  Time to bring the puppies back in..
