KC say whut?

Congrats to the Royals for advancing to the next round of

the playoffs.  : )..  They fought and dug down deep to sweep California.  

I grew up on the Cardinal side of Missouri and am still a little bitter

bout that call in the Game Six of the I70 Series in 1985.

Ive been on the KC side for 16 years now.

Time to support my hometown guys.

Unless..

We get a rematch.

Lol.

My wine / margarita mob member's son,

with the Tampa Bay Storm's AFL

team and has made it through the final cuts!

After a great season, our guys are one and done in

the playoffs, despite playing a fantastic game.

We could have had that game if we hadn't

been dropping players all over the

field like they had been hit by the plague..

We lost Jamal Charles four minutes into the first quarter,

Donnie Avery and then Brandon Flowers, all

to concussions, and then lost Kniles Davis and

Justin Houston to knee injuries before it was all said and done.

For those who want to knock our team down,

pbbbpplllt.  Haters gotta hate and potaters gotta potate.

For those who realize what this team did this year?

We celebrate with ya.

It was a great season Chiefs fans.

No matter how it ended.

Rock on Chiefs.

Proud of ya.

Awww Nuts!! : /..

So after going 9-0, our KC Chiefs have lost two straight games.

At least this week was a hard fought loss,

and one that saw us lose two of our defensive powerhouses,

Tamba Hali and Justin Houston.  : /..

We had San Diego down on their 20 yard line

with 3 and long and still couldn't hold them.

Well nuts.

Still proud of our team though.

At least we finally had more points from our Offense

than our Defensive line.

That's about the only positive from this game.

After problems with the public address system and two microphones, the
KC crowd took over the National Anthem duties in an amazing, patriotic
display of pride.  Great job Sporting KC fans and everyone there.  : )..

leading 10-7 so far.  Go Chiefs!

Happy Birthday to Andrew.. : )..

It's Andy's birthday today.

After all the hard work he put in with the Rams,

they released him and decided not to sign him to their

practice squad.  He should still be proud of himself and the

performance he gave.  He showed all of the best traits

any player could.  Talent.  Dedication.  Hard work.

Great hands.  Fast feet.  Great tackles.

 

Helmick Nation still stands along with him

and couldn't be prouder of the work he did.

Welcome to the Helmick Nation!

The Rams chose to release Andy yesterday.  : (.  It could be because they want him to be on their practice squad as a backup or for next season.  After all the hard work he put in with them?  He deserves a spot on the roster.  Sooo.  We have decided to start promoting him with the Kansas City fans in hopes that the Chiefs saw something in him when they had him over for a practice before the NFL draft this year.  What better way to get him noticed?  How about another blogspot blog?

Dizzy Bat Fun with Ram Rookies.. Lol..

It was the Ram Rookie initiation day yesterday,

and what better way to welcome them

to the team than to play dizzy bat

with ice water to boot?

 

Here's the rules and scoop.

The rookies had to run the ball a bit,

then take a bat, lean over with 

their head close to the end

and make 24 spins,

then run back down the field.  : )..

 

Or not, as demonstrated in these pics..

 Dizzy batter meets dizzy grass..

One down, one up but not for long.

Lol.

Taters, Maters and Mullets.. Oh My!!

Had an awesome non-weekend weekend..

Now, I've got one 8 hour shift between me and

a weekend to recover from my

non-weekend weekend..

 

The Helmick Nation journeyed across

 the great state of Missouri to root

for Andrew Helmick's Ram debut.

What a debut it was!

7 minutes left in the game, the Rams

were down 19-0.

Andy finally got his shot.

 

His mom Jeanie and half of our crew

erupted in a cheer so loud from the lower level

that it caught the attention of the camera man and the

pressbox above.  Not only did they make the

game coverage?  They also showed Andy

on the field right after that talking

about how much support he had from family

and friends.  Awesome.

 

What could be even better than that? 

His first pass??

CAUGHT!

He gained 30 yards!

Second pass?

Batted down from a GB Packer defender,

although Andy almost managed to catch it!!

Third pass?

CAUGHT!!

He picked up a couple more yards

before getting knocked

out of bounds.

All in all???

Awesome!

Fantastic!

Wonderful!

Such a great debut of a young man who defied the

odds and would never say never.

Whatever happens is in someone else's hands,

but lemme tell ya!  I think the Ram's

have seen so many great things from Andy.

They would be crazy not to keep him on that 53 man roster!

My favorite souvenier from the game..  : )..

 

Other activities this weekend included a Sunday

morning brunch at a local St. Louis winery,

trips past a farm selling "Taters and Maters!"

and a gas station selling mullets.

It was a long drive, a great time

and then a long drive with wine stops here

and there.  One more day and

then I can rest..  : )..

Gotta get rested up for the trip tomorrow.  : )..

I've never been a big fan of our teams name,

but our park is definitely a hit.  : )..

We get to show it off a little tonight.

Gotta call it a night before the game is over though,

my new shift begins at 0500 tomorrow.

My friend's son is still making a name for himself with

the St. Louis Rams, after learning the playbook

well enough, he was tearing the field up

during their official training camp this week.

He got a lot of oooh's and ahhh's for this delightful

crowd pleasing one handed touch down reception.

 

He's been turning heads, gaining fans, making a lot of awesome

catches and plays, and basically showing the Rams what

he's all about.  That would be desire, dedication and a huge

desire to succeed.

Rut Rohh..

The Cardinals are now down 3 games to 2 in the best of 7 series.  It's not looking good for them.  At least they will be back in St. Louis for the next game on Wednesday night.  This series was pretty evenly matched, but I think that Texas might have gotten a little peeved after the 16-7 loss Saturday night.  C'mon Cardinals!  : )..  We need a little (lot) more of this..

And a whole lotta, lotta, lotta more of this..
