Welcome

Just a few rambling thoughts and crafts from a mind that is full of both. I am talented in my mind but regularly run full throttle into the wall of procrastination. I have raised procrastination to an art form. A friend once told me I have a BS in BS and a minor in excuse making. If there is anyway to get out of doing my best, I will do my best to get out of it. Welcome to my saburban life. : ).. Lol.

Wednesday laughs..

 And finally..  Hmm..
I wasn't aware that George had a 'stache.  Lol.  : )..
According to Lupe, our great cook at work,
this is Jorge Washington.  Ahh.  I gotcha.  Ha!

A little holiday and vacation this weekend.. Awesome..

It's almost my Friday!  Yay.  Two more days and then I will be off for five in a row.  Whew.  I am soo ready for a mini break.  I plan on having some of these flavored with a little grenadine..  I see six of them in my immediate future.  : )..
And "Greaserama" is this weekend. It's a rat rod hot rod show where the cars aren't spit shined and trailered in because no one wants to put any miles on them, but where some of them are trailered in because they don't run.  Lol. "Good Guys" is also here this weekend, but that's where all the spit shined trailer queens take their shiny, chromed out hot rods. Check out this rat rod that was at Greaserama last year.  No fish were actually harmed during the show.  Yes, those are live goldfish in that cracked headlight. Lol. Great idea!
Two more days..  Two more days..  Two more days..

Yummy, yummy Jalepeno Cheese Dip.. : )..

Here's my submission for DebbieDoo's Blogging and Blabbing Newbie Party for the week, here is the link for her party, ya'll should check it out!  This a yummy dip that can be eaten with chips, crackers or spread on hamburgers as well.

2 8oz Cream Cheese blocks, softened.  1 jar jalepenos, chopped.  1 cup mayo.  Stir it up.  Pop it in the microwave to soften it up more.  Stir and top with sprinkled Parmesan.  If you want to make it hotter, add some jalepeno juice.  (I'm a wuss, so I will let those who are braver than me add some if they want to.  I keep mine to about jalepeno popper heat level.  Ok.  I am such a wuss.  Lol.)

Sunday, August 28, 2011

It's Sunday.. Which means tomorrow is...

Going to be a long day. Have to work four hours at the state group home now that they have to pay a minimum of four hours now if someone comes in and then my regular job after that. Here's a joke to keep my mind off that.

A woman walks into a pharmacy and tells the pharmacist, "I want to buy some cyanide." He looks at her and asks, "What are you going to do with it?" She tells him, "I plan to poison my husband with it." Horrified the pharmacist tells her, "Thats against the law! Lord have mercy! You can't do that!" The woman calmly pulls a picture of her husband and the pharmacist's wife in bed out of her purse and shows it to him. Calmly, he lays it down and says, "Oh, I didn't know you had a prescription."

might wanna skip this one..)

I'm havin a Big Smith day today.. : ).

Friday fun..

A duck walks into a hardware store and asks the clerk, "Do you have any grapes?". The clerk says, "No, I'm sorry, we don't sell those here". The duck thanks him and leaves. He comes back the next day and asks the same clerk, "Do you have any grapes?" the clerk says, "No, we don't sell those here, we only sell hardware items". The duck thanks him and leaves. He comes back in the next day and approaches the same clerk who says, "If you ask me for grapes again, I'm going to staple your mouth shut!" the duck asks, "Do you have any staples?" and the clerk says, "I'm sorry, we are out of them right now, but we are expecting a shipment in soon." The duck looks at the clerk and says, "In that case, do you have any grapes?"
----
Two guys are walking through a field when they find a well. One throws a rock in but they never hear a splash at the bottom. "Man! That well must be deep! Toss something else in!". They find a bigger rock and still don't hear anything. "Grab something bigger!" one grabs a railroad tie and tosses it in. Still nothing. All of a sudden, a goat runs up and jumps down the well. Amazed, they stand there speechless. A few minutes pass by and a farmer walks up. "Excuse me, have you guys seen a goat around here?" One answers, "Yeah! One just ran up and jumped in this well!" The farmer shakes his head, "Nope, that's not my goat, he was tied to a railroad tie." (no actual animals were harmed in either joke, lol)

A moment with Milo..

There are times that I realize just how lucky we are to have a puppy like him.  We weren't expecting to get a little boy to keep our older female Cairn Terrier company so we could have easily missed out on the magic that is Milo.  He had one sister, but by the time we called his family, she had been adopted.  We debated whether we wanted a little boy puppy or not, but eventually decided that we would give it a shot.  It's been one of the best decisions that I think we've made in a long time.  : )..

He has been cuddly, sweet, loving, loyal, ornery and a hoot since the day we brought him home.  Our lives and house would not be the same without him!  Lol.  Although I'm sure that our cats would have passed on either one of the dogs (although Festus likes Emmy, putting his arm around her shoulder and licking the insides of her ears).  Ha!

Milo is always doing something.  He can entertain him self for long periods of times with toys and chew bones and then spend hours snuggling with us the next.  He is still super excited to see us walk through the door, even if we have only been gone for a few minutes.  He can climb over the baby gate we used to block the pups in the living / dining room and kitchen area, and can jump over the big radiator box we used as well.  I finally got smart and put the box on the bottom with the gate on top.  He hasn't quite figured that one out yet.

Milo has his own blog on here.  I told that to the last training class at work and there were a lot of giggles, including someone having to explain to their classmate how he types.  Lol.  : )..  Anyway, he's one of the best puppies I have ever met, even when he's up to something.  He makes us laugh and he makes us take time to sit down, relax and enjoy Life According to Milo.

This was the day after he lost his boy toys.
Spendin some quality time with my little guy..
Always one of my favorite pics of him.  This was right after we got him.
Who could resist a puppy this cute?  I think he could be a model and am kickin that idea around.  : )..
Milo said he's not sure about the whole cat walk thing though!
Says he's going to chase all the cats right off it!  Lol.
Wish him luck!

Hurricane Irene..

For all of those who are in this storm's imminent path, I hope that you will be safe and that Irene takes it easy on you.  This is the first hurricane to threaten our shores since Ike in 2008.  My mother-in-law rode Ike out by going further inland in Texas.  Luckily, her marina was protected from the storm's strength and the damage done was fixed within a short amount of time.  I hope the same can be said for those now.

ADT always starts hopping during a hurricane event.  If you have a system and are in the storm's path, believe me, we know that you are going through a chaotic and stressful event.  Please bear with us and we will help you as much as we can.  We will be there for you before, during and after as much as possible.  If we are continually calling and you are tired of hearing from us, please let us know and we can place your system on test so that we don't keep pestering you.  We want to help as much as possible.  I'm sure that I can speak for my colleagues when I say that we all wish you the best during this time.

Umm.. I needa Kahuna!

We have a local drive thru downtown in Kansas City that make some delicious breakfast sandwiches called "Kahuna's".  This is what they look like:
This is how we make them:
Cook breakfast sausage patties. Brown onions in a skillet.
Cut lettuce and tomatoes (optional) in slices.
Take cooked sausage patties, add sliced cheese and grilled onions
and put them between buttered bread and toast them in the skillet.
Once the bread is browned or grilled to your taste, remove and add
the lettuce, tomato and either mayo or hot sauce.  (I add lite mayo,
I'm a wuss when it comes to spicy food!)
Cut in half and enjoy!  : )..  Yummy!

Yay for me.

Hmm.  Soo.  A few months ago we were in the hunt for a used vehicle.  We had a pretty good amount of money to work with, so we were lookin online and at some of the car lots.  I ran across this sweet little honey that was well within our purchase price, with money left over for whatever..
It was a 1998 Saab 900 Convertible and it was suhweet.  I wanted it.
I would have loved to have gotten it.  : (..
But, we have two of these and it had two doors and leather seats.  Not good for two of those.
Soo.  This is what we got instead.  The McJackwagon.  Yay.  Yay for me.  Passes everything but a gas station.  Here it is in it's natural habitat.  Look at the mighty majestic way it rips the hose off the pump and gulps and gulps and gulps the gas.  Yay.  Yay for me.

The big "selling" points for us getting the McJackwagon instead of the suhweet Saab?  Ooooh.  Saab's require maintenance and have expensive parts and you have to buy special equipment and books to work on them or pay out of the nose to have a qualified Saab specialist to work on it.  Plus, my other half had no earthly idea how to even begin to understand the alien technology that Saab's possess.  Soo.  Subaru's are soo much easier to work on.  Mmm..  K..  Mind you, this is the same person who has spent over $21,000 to build this and rebuild a new engine for it last year...

But.  Saab's are alien technology.  Soo.  The McJackwagon picked up a front end wobble.  Lower Ball Joint.  Had to buy a manual to learn how to change said lower ball joint.  Ohh.  Fixed it.  Had to buy a special part.  Nice.  And, yay for me, I had to help.  Yay.  Yay for me.
Yay.  Sooo worth it.

I am in such a beachy mood today. : )..

Somethin like this..
 Or this..
I could use a little of that..
Or somewhere with a few of these..
But, alas, it is not to be.  Sigh.  One day.  Some day.  It'll happen.  : )..
Preferably here..

Another stormy night.. : (..

Hmm.  Had another big stormy night last night, which would have been fine.  However, we have neighbors who just LOVE their two dogs.  One dog is a lab/coon mix named Daisy and the other is a poodle/maltese mix named Jackson.  They left their dogs out in the storm and went to bed.  The storm hit around 2am and was extremely noisy.  They finally let the dogs in after the storm was over.  Mind you, they LOVE their dogs.  Here's a picture of Jackson on a good day at our back door.

Soo, if anyone happens to drive through our neighborhood here within the next few weeks and they see a guy named Norm or a lady named Ashley sitting outside, tied to a tree, wearing dog collars and begging for help, just bark at them and drive on.

Whew! Whatta breezy night!

I was sooo enjoying my last 15 minute break last night.  I sat outside about 10pm with a little breeze kickin up.  It was sooo nice and was about 76 degrees.  Just the way I like it best!  There was a little lightning off to the north, but no thunder.  Ahh.  Finally!  The breeze right before it rains.  Ohhh, how I have missed that!

Finished working at 11pm and that little lovely breeze right before it rained?  Lol.  It became 70+ mph winds, sheets of rain and a little pea sized hail.  Within an hour, it cut loose upon us.  We had about four people run in completely soaking, sopping wet.  The only thing dry on them were their insides.  Wow!  It eased up after about fifteen minutes so I decided to brave it.  Guess the storm was a slow mover, despite those heavy winds and so I caught up with it again about two miles away.  I took shelter under a banks big six lane drive thru with about five other vehicles.  Lol.  That lovely, little, wonderful breeze?  It was rocking my car like a baby's crib.  Whew.  It took me an hour and a half to make it home when usually I'm there in thirty minutes.  Dang!  So much for the little breeze right before it rains!  (it was still sooo worth it though.  it was soooo nice out there while it lasted!)

I ❤ luminary ideas.. Just like this!

If you have seen my site so far, you might have picked up on the fact that I love, love, love luminary items.  Love making them, love buying them, love them in general.  I have several patio lights that I am keeping my eye on.  Now I ran across this:
Find out exactly how easy peasy they are here..
Luv it, luv it, luv it.  : )..

Hehehe..

EZ Pizzas for the Culinarily Challenged Cook..

Again, I am sooo not a cook.  Thankfully my other half is.  Here's a quick and ez pizza that is delicious.  Flatbread.  Pizza sauce.  Toppings (one of mine is ham, pineapple and onion and the other was hamburger, mushroom and onion).  Cheese.  Seasonings (I used a little Basil and Italian Seasoning).  Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.  Enjoy.  They were pretty tasty.
(Btw, yes, I really need to buy new cookie sheets, but, yay!  I found a website where someone repurposed them by painting them.  Awesome idea.  I will post the link as soon as I find it again.)

Facebook reminders rock! : )..

Facebook reminded me that one year ago today, I added a post from the Jack Johnson concert.  I loved seeing him.  He put on a such a great show, after a while he played several acoustic songs onstage by himself and then ended the show with all of his opening acts like this:
This video was shot in Salt Lake City, but it was still the same awesome version they played for us.

By the way, I find hearts in the strangest places.  I have found a heart shaped soda stain on a table, a heart shaped water spot on my kitchen floor, heart shaped potato chips (including one this morning), but I have two that are extra special to me.  One was a little heart shaped gas smudge floating in the water that I caught on my Go Phone camera right before it dissipated and disappeared.  If I ever find the memory card for my phone, I will get that back (Trust me, I am lookin!).

This little heart is my other favorite.  My other half was kinda irritating me on the way to the concert because he was being petulant and really didn't want to go.  He didn't "know" how awesome Jack Johnson was, even though I had played some of his music right before the show, so he was being...  Umm..  Quite the..  Umm..  Well..  My momma always said, if you don't have something nice to say..  Sooo..  We will skip that and go on to the heart.  I got out of our truck when we stopped by to meet up with friends who were going, and I found this little heart waiting for me in the street.  I always call my found hearts "a little love from up above".  It's my way of acknowledging those who were closest to me that have been lost.  So, without further ado..  Here's my Jack Johnson / Little Love From Up Above memento.  It is sooo going somewhere special.  Love it.  : )..

More Joplin links..

I was fortunate enough to have chosen to attend Joplin's Missouri Southern State College after high school.  This town was always a great place and I was able to go back there a couple times since then.  The tornado that ripped it apart has only made it stronger.  They still need so much help with the rebuilding so any help is appreciated.  Here are some links for anyone who is interested.

Click here for a USA Today video, the first part is a little loud so you
might want to adjust your volume a little.

I have to do what today?

Umm.  K.  Somehow, despite the fact that I knew tomorrow was the 15th of August, it never occured to me that today was already August 14th.  Don't ask me how that happened, I think it was pure denial.  Lol.  Sooo, there I was, relaxing for a couple minutes after letting the puppies outside this morning, pokin at my iphone when all of a sudden, August 14th tapped me on the shoulder and smacked me in the face.  You have to work at the group home this morning!  Helllloooo.  Wha?  Huh?  Wha?  It's the WHAT?  14th?!  Lol.  Sooo.  Yeah.  Guess I had to work this weekend after all.  It's a good thing that I have a calendar app on my main page!

By the way, yesterday was a full moon.  Wanna know how I knew that little tidbit of information?  Umm.  I made two trips to the grocery store with our clients and there were people there who were acting bizarre that weren't a part of my group!  There were some very, very, very, very, very strange people out today.  A lot of them.  Also, I think I was in half the shopper's way, while the other half was in mine.  But the grocery store wasn't the craziest part of my day.
There had been a little commotion across the street at the group home last night at an apartment complex which has been known for trouble before (including a visit from Swat and snipers in the past, no less).  One of our clients was cleaning up around the facility (he thinks it's his job, usually cleaning up the gazebra - yup - gazebra - lol) and low and behold, he found this (see below) in the trash.  There are six empty spots.  Nice.  Great.  Awesome.  Anyway, I am not scheduled to be back there for a while.  Won't miss it a bit.  : )..  Whew.

It's Red Friday here in KC..

And that only means one thing..  Are you ready for some football?!  Chiefs!  Pre-season game numero uno.  I went in to work soooooo early this mornin so that I could get off work earlier than usual.  I paid for it, but now that I am officially kickin off my weekend, it was worth the caffeine riddled mornin that I muddled through.  Although, lol, there might be some really confused people with some very interesting QA evaluations out there this round.  Lol.  Kinda reminds me of this commercial..
Except instead of watching baseball, I think I was watching the back of my eyelids.  Zzzz.  (don't worry, i actually fixed the evals before i saved them.  lol.)
Anyway!  I'm so ready for some football!  Go Chiefs!

It's almost Friday.. yay.. woo.. ...

Runnin a little low on energy this morning.  I have had some late nights and early mornings this week with crazy work schedules so I am feeling the effects right now.  I get to recharge this weekend though.  I am not working Saturday or Sunday and we are done with puppy school too!  Yay.  A weekend to relax..  umm..  catch up on housework.  : )..  yay.  Anyway, here's a little music to get me..  umm..  us started!
I love Jack Johnson.  Got to see him in concert last year and loved every minute of it.  : )..  Took my mother-in-law to it too.  She flew in from Kemah, TX (she lives aboard a sailboat and works at her marina and let us visit a couple years ago - awesome!) that afternoon and we went to the concert that night.  Lol.  I am in a Jack Johnson mood this morning and lemme tell ya, that's not a bad thing at all!
One of my favorite things about him, he not only owns his own record label and supports other groups (love the group ALO that tours with him - yup - got to see them too!  Super yay!), but he donated 100% of the proceeds from his huge "From the Sea" tour to charity.  They are still on this tour as we speak.  That's over a whole year's worth of donations.  How great is that?

(If your computer runs this video like mine does, you might need to pause it for a minute to let it buffer.  Sorry about that.)

Here's a little Ben Harper too.....

I love the marketing people at Cadillac for bringing this song to my attention a while ago.  They used it in a commercial that immediately drew me in and made me want to pay attention!  A certain *ahem* stupid dating website should stand up and take notice.  Anyway, here's a little "Susie Blue" to getcha movin along today.  Luv it, luv it, luv it.  Thanks Cadillac!!

Bill Cosby on the Jay Leno Show.. : ).. Oh yeah!

I have been looking for this video everywhere!  Lol.  It was one of the funniest clips of Bill Cosby I had seen in a long time, and that's saying something because he's always great.  : )..  Scroll down on the site to watch the Jay Leno clip, but don't forget to check out the sweet picture of the Carroll Shelby Super Snake at the top of the page.  I am sooo not a big fan of cars, but that one is super duper nice!!

Here are a couple more clips about the Super Snake that he received.  Lol.
Long clip, no video, only audio, but ooooh so worth it!  : )..  Lol.
I got to see Bill Cosby in person at the "Get Motivated" seminar earlier this year and I seriously thought about yelling, "Carroll Shelby Cobra!" at him when he was pondering what he wanted to talk about.  Lol.  : )..  Someone yelled, "Go Army!" and he ran with it a few times.  He was awesome and I loved the chance to get to see him in action.  Thanks to my employer for sending us!  Woot!!

Wednesday Work Fun..

Some of my favorite comedy quotes..

Emo Phillips..

You don't appreciate a lot of stuff in school until you get older. Little things like being spanked every day by a middle-aged woman: Stuff you pay good money for in later life.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.

Aha. My modification ideas.

I was surfin the web one day when I ran upon this awesomeness.
Loved it and loved most of the items on this site..
These suhweet little darlin's are sooo nice.  I would love to try some myself.  Therein lies the problem.  In order to do this, you have to let the gourd dry out and then cut it open to expose all of the mold that has grown inside of it.  I am highly allergic to mold (I kinda resemble a deformed monster with runny eyes, a sniffling, sneezy, red, mucousy messy nose that can't form a coherent thought because of how many Benadryl's I would need to take in order to combat that!  Lol.  Trust me, not a very attractive sight to see lumbering toward ya, children run in fear of the approaching monstrosity!) sooo, even with a mask, I've been a tad bit..  umm..  apprehensive.

Plus, you have to have a delicate hand because they can crack very easily.  I am a Taurus.  I am the bull in the china closet.  China closets run in fear when they..  Ok..  Sooo, maybe they don't run, but still, the word "delicate" and me, it just ain't going to happen.  : )..

Soooo..  I realllllllly wanted to do something with the whole gourd mask idea.  Had some great design ideas, and got to thinkin..  Here's what I came up with..  Gourdless Gourd Masks.  No muss, no fuss.  I'm workin on some tile coasters with them as well.
Three of my favorites so far..
 Different view of them.
Hmm, a little fuzzy.  Never said I was a great photog, I seem to cut people's heads off when takin pics.  Sorry about the blur, this will have to do for now.  This is one of my girls that I call, "Why yes, I am a Princess".
 One of my "Princes".
And one of my "Warriors".
They will get better, they are also a work in progress.  Anyway, I do love me some gourd masks.  : )..
Here's a picture of my Prince..  Lol.  I call him "Nauti" because I got him down in Kemah, TX a couple years ago (loved it down there!! oooh sooo nice!!).
Lol.  : )..  Not quite the Prince you were expectin.  Me either, but I love him too.
